FAQS

Choosing the RIGHT Therapist is like choosing a life partner - chemistry and trust are an essential combination in a successful relationship. Got questions? I’ve got answers! I go above and beyond to act as a safety net for my clients, and strive to make their experience as pleasant as possible. Take a look at some answers to the most frequently asked therapy-related questions and requests below.

HOW LONG DOES EACH THERAPY SESSION TAKE?

We meet each week for 45 to 50 minutes each week. I can meet for extended sessions (60-75 minutes) depending on your needs and if scheduling can permit.

WHAT IS YOUR STYLE AND/OR MODALITIES THAT YOU USE WITH CLIENTS?

To be honest with you, I love sitting in the company of people who aren't used to feeling seen and heard and so, I keep it as real as possible with you in the (virtual) therapy room.

Most, if not all of Psychology comes from westernized thinking and I'm learning that most modalities are created by white men, which doesn't always vibe well with the populations that I work with.

I see a person first and then together we come up with goals for therapy. My number one goal is to give you a safe place to let your hair down & explore, to laugh, cry, swear, & be human. Therapy is YOUR place to own your healing journey and apply things you've learned in sessions outside of the therapy. :)

DO YOU OFFER SLIDING SCALE RATES?

Yes, I do, but I use what's called an Anti-Oppressive Rate Structure (If Interested, please inquire more about these rates via your consultation call/email).

At present ( 8/29/23-9/8/23), there are no sliding fee slots currently available, but I'll keep y'all posted if that changes. **This will be updated once these slots are filled again**

DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?

At present, I am only able to work with clients who can pay out of pocket for each session. I'm currently considered as an Out Of Network Provider but working with a platform called Thrizer, which aids in making therapy more affordable & accessible by:

 1. Checking with your insurance provider to confirm if you have out-of-network benefits & whether a deductible must be met before receiving benefits. If there is a deductible, then you would pay out of pocket per session until your deducible is met. Once this is met,  you will only be charged a co-pay for your therapy sessions, rather than paying my full rate.

2. If you prefer to continue to pay in full and wait for reimbursements, you have that option as well.

ARE YOU OFFERING IN PERSON OR VIRTUAL SESSIONS?

I am only seeing clients virtually through a secure videoconfrerencing platform.

WHERE YOU BEEN AT ALL THIS TIME?! (KIDDING, ALTHOUGH, I DO GET ASKED THIS A LOT TOO LOL)

I've been right here, THIS WHOLE TIME. Nah, but for real, I had to jump through a bunch of academic and professional hoops to be here with you today and can I just say......I'm SO happy and thankful to be in this space with you. :)
